Sophia Myles finished filming ‘Spooks‘ after 5 months this past Saturday! Now, we just have to wait to see what she’s been up to for a few more months – maybe the series will come back to UK TV screens as early as late September 2010!
There are some pictures from one week ago on Facebook of Sophia as Beth Bailey on set of ‘Spooks‘ playing with Ed Hall’s cute dog. A huge thank you to ‘Spooks‘ fan Emma for sharing them with all of us on her Facebook profile.
You may remember that Ed Hall – who directed the final episodes of this upcoming 9th series of ‘Spooks‘ – also directed Sophia in ‘Marple: Sleeping Murder‘ and she has since been quoted as calling him “super bright”. The other of the overall 8 episodes were directed by Michael Caton Jones, Julian Holmes and Paul Whittington.
I’ve added fanart by Chrissy & Natalie of those Facebook pictures:

Thanks to the tip of a visitor I replaced the scan of a promotional picture from the Australian ‘The Abduction Club‘ DVD with a better quality picture. This is one of my favourite pictures from my favourite Sophia movie.
Also, some of the episodes of ‘Spooks (MI-5)‘ Season 9 are now listed on The Internet Movie Database. Thus we now know the full name of Sophia’s character: Beth Bailey.

I’m very sorry for the lack of updates recently, but news about Sophia Myles has been slow since she’s ultra-busy filming ‘Spooks‘. Before the show starts airing in the fall I plan on bringing the site 100 % up to date – so stay tuned!
In the meantime I opened a fanlisting Smile: A Sophia Myles Fanlisting which can be found here. The gorgeous layout was generously donated by message board member Natalie! Thank you so much! Feel free to head over & join!

I finally managed to solve the problem with the site’s Newsletter. There were too many users registered for it – mostly spam user accounts though. I deleted all of them and installed a plugin to prevent spam accounts – and voilà! The Newsletter is working again! To be notified via email whenever there’s a new post don’t hesitate to register (again)! Thank you.
As before you can also follow us via Twitter or RSS feed to stay informed on all things Sophia Myles!

Many thanks Ali for alerting me to a blog post on the TV Choice website, where journalist Helen Childs reports about the experience of interviewing the Spooks actors recently. The actual interviews will be released in autumn when the show starts airing.
This confirms that Sophia’s role in the British series will indeed be as an MI-5 agent and there are some interesting new details about her character. She plays Beth (interestingly enough) who is based on a real life character. Despite wearing some impressive heels in at least one scene (pics) she will not be seen running in them. Remembering what she said in the January 2009 Podcast about heels & running I’m actually very relieved to hear that.

This (tiny) picture shows Sophia Myles talking to the (now) married couple Alessandro Nivola and Emily Mortimer during the 16th Annual BAFTA/LA’s Garden Party on June 27, 2002, which makes this the currently earliest picture of Sophia Myles attending a public event in our gallery (until now this spot had been occupied by The Abuction Club’ Premiere on July 16, 2002).
This garden party was hosted by then recently appointed British Consul General Peter Hunt and his wife, Anne at their home in Hancock Park. The evening’s silent auction and raffle raised money for BAFTA/LA’s education and scholarship programs and to help South Central L.A. kids. Additionally, also Geri Halliwell (who pitched in and called out the raffle winners), Thora Birch, director Alan Parker, Dexter Fletcher, David Suchet and Steve Valentine attended.
If you ever come across a better version of this picture and/or additional pictures of Sophia from this event please don’t hesitate to send them in, thank you!

I added 11 additional pictures from last week’s ‘Spooks‘ set. Some of them are a bit similar to those we’ve already got (I tried to arrange that the most similar ones are displayed next to each other) but we can also now see who the legs of the guy sitting on a chair belong to: to another new member of the cast for Season 9: Max Brown.
Edit: Replaced the photos from Sophia’s 1999 theatre performance in ‘The Four Alice Bakers‘ with untagged versions.
