Caviezel is Weinstein’s ‘Outlander’

Jim Caviezel has signed on to star in “Outlander,” a science fiction adventure movie that Howard McCain is directing for the Weinstein Co.

Jim Caviezel has signed on to star in “Outlander,” a science fiction adventure movie that Howard McCain is directing for the Weinstein Co.

Don Carmody, Andreas Grosch, Karen Loop and John Schimmel are exec producing.

Karl Urban was at one point attached to star in the production, which was to have shot in New Zealand.

Shooting on the $32 million production is to start Oct. 15 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Caviezel has the thriller “Unknown” for the Weinstein Co. opening Nov. 7 and appears opposite Denzel Washington in the Tony Scott-directed “Deja Vu,” which opens Nov. 22. He is repped by ICM, Beverlee Dean Management and attorney Frank Stewart.

Myles, who appeared in “Art School Confidential,” and Huston, whose credits include “Factory Girl,” are repped by ICM.
