As announced here previously ‘Hallam Foe’ will be shown at the 61st Edinburgh Film Festival. It has now been announced that the film will actually open the festival. This certainly is great news! Read the announcement here on the official site.
This year’s official theme of the film festival is ‘The Written Word’, and Hallam Foe is an ideal choice for the opening film as it is an adaptation of a Scottish novel – largely set and shot in Edinburgh. The Festival’s Artistic Director, Hannah McGill, had this to say about the film:
“Hallam Foe is a stunning achievement by all concerned – a film with an unforgettable atmosphere and some of the finest performances of the year. We’re enormously proud to have the film open what we anticipate to be a landmark film festival.”
