GOING to Los Angeles cost Sophia Myles her relationship with Dr Who star David Tennant but she has no regrets about crossing the Atlantic.
The screen beauty was given 24 hours to make the biggest career decision of her life when she was offered a starring role in US vampire series Moonlight.
The Scot reportedly ended their two-year relationship by phone because of the distance between them.
She said: “It was a gamble but I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t go.”
Her decision has paid off, with Moonlight proving a big hit with US fans and winning Best New Drama at the 2007 People’s Choice Awards.
And it looks like she has found another Scots love – she is reportedly dating Snow Patrol bassist Paul Wilson.
Sophia, 27, who won a Scottish Bafta for playing an Edinburgh hotel worker in Hallam Foe, still can’t believe the success of Moonlight.
She plays Beth Turner, a reporter investigating murders blamed on vampires in LA with co-star Alex O’Loughlin.
Sophia got her big break when she was spotted by former Monarch Of The Glen star Julian Fellowes in a school play and he pickedher to playLadyJaneGrey in The Prince And The Pauper.
She has been on TV in Colditz, Marple and Foyle’s War and starred in the Thunderbirds movie and epic Tristan And Isolde. Her next big film is Outlander with John Hurt.
Her big worry when she signed up for Moonlight was that she isn’t a size zero.
She said: “I’m a curvy girl, not a stick, but the producers said they were worried I was losing too much weight.”
Sophia was only asked to have hair extensions to get a glossy Hollywood look – a small price to pay for having a hit show.
Moonlight is on Living TV on Tuesdays at 10pm.
