Face Is Familiar

from The Daily Mail – Weekend (UK)

The daughter of an Anglican vicar, Sophia was born and raised in west London. Her career got a major kick-start thanks to Julian Fellowes, who saw her in a school play and cast her as Lady Jane Grey in the 1996 BBC adaptation of The Prince and the Pauper. She had a blink-and-miss-her role in 2001 film From Hell (as Johnny Depp’s wife), a bit part in both Underworld films, and did her time with small roles in TV serials, including Heartbeat and Foyle’s War. Her big break came playing Lady Penelope in the Thunderbirds movie in 2004, but, though Sophia nailed the character’s classy sex appeal, it wasn’t a hit. Undeterred, she has since earned consistent critical acclaim, winning a Scottish Bafta for her role in 2007 indie film Hallam Foe.
