Santa Sophia!!!

Sophia has sent a Christmas message with a picture to the site:

To my lovely fans at sophiamyles.org,

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and I hope that 2010 brings us more joy than we can possibly imagine.

Love, peace, rock and roll.
Sophia xxx

Awww, thank you! And we wish you the same! Sophia also sent some great exclusive pictures from the set of ‘Outlander‘. Thank you so much! It’s funny to think that these were taken over 3 years ago.

‘Outlander’ UK DVD Promotion

The UK ‘Outlander‘ DVD will soon be released: August 31. In promotion of this a few small internet articles about Sophia Myles have surfaced. Not sure if the quotes in it are part of a full-length interview, which is yet to appear – let’s hope so – but I’ve added them already to the press archive:

Australian ‘Hallam Foe’ TV Premiere
Posted in: Fans, Movies,

Thanks Chris for sending me this information. ‘Hallam Foe‘ is making its premiere on Australian TV on the 6th of May on the Showtime Channel. It will be repeated on the 7th, 18th and 30th May.

This is good news as ‘Hallam Foe‘ was not picked up by any DVD stores that Chris has been into in Tasmania. So if you live in Australia and haven’t seen this lovely film – featuring an award winning performance by Sophia Myles no less – be sure to tune in. Read more about ‘Hallam Foe‘.

‘Outlander’ Making Of & More

Following ‘Outlander‘ on Twitter certainly brings us fabulous information. There’s another opportunity to win a VIP screening here and it leads us to an interesting and totally new over 16 minute long Making Of. The Outlander fansite has word that it will eventually turn up on the Region 2 DVD but isn’t on the recently released French DVD/Blu Ray or the upcoming Region 1 DVD/Blu Ray. It also has some nice moments of Sophia Myles so be sure to watch!

Someone uploaded a hiliarious imitation of the UK Trailer to YouTube. It’s a shot by shot re-make with action figures such as He-Man, Thundercats, Star Wars and more. Definitely a must see!

Outtakes from reviews (added to the Outlander page):

But it’s Sophia Myles who steals the show, her performance as beautiful but ballsy Viking girl Freya giving the boys a run for their money in the action stakes.
IGN.com

John Hurt is excellent as the watchfully wise king, as are Sophia Myles as his feisty daughter and the other-worldly James Caviezel.

UK Cinema Arrival of ‘Outlander’ approaching

Finally! ‘Outlander‘ is released in cinemas throughout Sophia’s homecountry this coming Friday, April 24!

SciFi.co.uk has a competition to win a VIP private ‘Outlander’ screening for you & your mates. To participate you have to be a UK resident, register at their website and give the correct answer to this question “What do you call a monster with one eye?” before the end of April 25. Good luck!

Also on SciFi.co.uk you can shorten the wait till Friday by watching their exclusive ‘Outlander‘ clip of the movie’s beginning.

I’ve come across some new reviews. Apparently Jonathan Ross spoke favourably about the movie in his show and The Mirror singled out Sophia Myles for praise in their short and lukewarm review: “but it moves at a fair old pace and features a great performance by Sophia Myles as a Viking princess.”

As always I’m extremely grateful for anything you UK fans might come across. Thanks for keeping your eyes open!

Oh, and Sophia’s ‘Doctor Who‘ episode “Girl in the Fireplace” re-airs tonight on BBC3 at 7pm.

An anecdote from the ‘Underworld’ set
Posted in: Movies,

I came across an interview with Bill Nighy about ‘Underworld: Rise of the Lycans‘. In it he shared an anecdote of what happened on the set of the first installment (2003):

Does six hours of makeup help you get into character?
“Nope! It doesn’t help in any way whatsoever! It’s just aweful. Luckily, I only had to do it in the first one. I never have to do it again. ‘Pirates,’ the future, is computer generated. I didn’t have to wear any of it. It’s all computer generated and that’s the future and I’m very happy. They put me in a prosthetics truck with these very nice guys who for six hours apply with industrial adhesive chunks of latex to your body so that you can barely move. They then put contact lenses in and fangs, then nobody will have lunch with you any more. Literally, Sophia Myles in the first one who was supposed to have lunch with me before she saw the makeup, she actually said ‘Bill I can’t really…’ she was backing away because she freaked out. And in fact they got a model of my body; an electronic version of me and they showed it to Sophia just innocently and she went up to look at the head and then they turned it on and it sat up and its mouth fell open and she nearly had a heart attack. And they have it on video, they were very pleased with themselves that they’d scared Sophia so bad.”

Source: Movie Jungle. It’s certainly nice for one of the stars of the Underworld films to acknowledge and mention Sophia!
