This is a bit late, but I only recently came across it. When Tristan & Isolde was shown on Channel4 in the UK just before Christmas, the Daily Mail’s supplement magazine Weekend featured a small portrait about Sophia Myles in the TV listing.

How time flies! It seems like yesterday that Absolutely Sophia Myles had been celebrating being online for half a decade and already another year’s passed. For the occasion I finished coding a new layout for the website.

A while ago members of the messageboard had the opportunity to create a layout for the site. In the end only one was submitted – but what a gorgeous layout this is! Luna designed the graphics – many thanks! – which in turn highly influenced my coding. I’ve been going over everything so I think it should all work – but please let me know if you encounter any problems.

What else is new? In the sidebar I replaced the random quotes by Sophia Myles with new orginal ones. Enjoy!

It was also time to change the poll question. Since January 2, 2009, 766 of the site’s visitors have answered the question ‘What’s your favourite character?‘. The result was overwhelmingly clear: 515 people (or 67%) chose Beth Turner from ‘Moonlight‘. The other top choices were Isolde (‘Tristan & Isolde‘) with 18% and Reinette (‘Doctor Who‘) with 9%. But only 1% or 10 people prefer the character of Kate Breck in ‘Hallam Foe‘ to all others. See all results here. I’m really sorry for the lack of updates recently. But I’ve thoroughly been enjoying summer and being out & about with friends and it’s also been rather quiet in the Sophia world. Well, thanks to Sarika from Rachel Hurd-Wood Web we have a new outtake from the 2007 portrait session for Stella magazine. Sophia Myles and the other actresses are striking some funky rockstar poses – a must-see!

I’ve finally taken the time to finish a page in the Sophia section here on the site: Through the Years. There are currently 36 pictures of Sophia from her childhood until 2008. Enjoy!

Today it’s been exactly 5 years that Absolutely Sophia Myles first opened its doors! Back then it was hosted on some unknown free host on a very long URL but it was only a few months until I realized how much I loved running this site and bought a domain. Time has really flown by and I am proud to have kept the site up to date for half a decade. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you loyal visitors who have encouraged and helped me along the way. Most of all thank you Sophia Myles for being such a great inspiration to all of us!!

As a treat for you all I have made screencaptures of Sophia’s guest appearance on one of England’s longest running series: “Heartbeat“. The programme first aired in 1992 and is currently in its 18th season and is a period police drama set in 1960’s North York Moors. Back in 2001 (Season 11) a 21 year old Sophia played a central character in what was, I believe, a Christmas Special called No Hiding Place.

As Christmas arrives in sleepy Aidensfield, Mike and Tricia try to reunite a blind woman with her stolen guide dog – and in time-honoured fashion, they share a drunken kiss under the mistletoe to boot. Elsewhere, the local menfolk have their heads turned by the arrival of a stunning beauty trying to evade the paparazzi

As the series – apart from a few early episodes – have so far never been released on video or DVD it’s almost impossible to catch up with this project of Sophia’s. So the hugest thank you goes to Dawn who shared her recording with me and thus has made this update possible!!! I’ve been extremely busy transferring all the files to the new server and I hope you won’t come across missing files. If you do please let me know. What a night! All of a sudden it looked to me as if the whole site was gone. 2 oversea calls and one email later I knew that my gallery installation was causing trouble on my host’s server. After I had made the gallery directory unavailable my account was thankfully reinstated. Until the still remaining issue can be resolved – I don’t know yet how long this will take – I’m afraid we won’t have any gallery. Thank you for your patience and understanding and rest assured that I’m working hard on finding a solution as quickly as possible.
