There’s a new edition of the podcast! Please listen to Jackie, Felicia and myself talking about “Hallam Foe” - also known as “Mister Foe“. I really wanted to put this up on the day of the official US release but even though it’s now already September 6 where I live for all of you who are residing in the US it’s still Friday. Enjoy!
[edit:] Finally even got the player working!

Remember, Mister Foe officially opens in the US today. Check out the Play Dates over at the distributor’s website to find out if the movie will come to a theater near you.
Make sure to visit this site here again later today to find something special to celebrate the US release.
In the meantime, I leave you with a link to a very positive Mister Foe review, as published by The New York Times (read). They specifically commend Sophia Myles for her performance:
Related Posts:And the object of his desperate, icky and fond attention is certainly well chosen. Like Emily Mortimer, who played Ewan McGregor’s dream woman in Mr. Mackenzie’s previous film, “Young Adam,” Ms. Myles has the task of turning a phantasm of adolescent desire into a real person.
Kate’s insistence, late in the movie, that she is just that is both superfluous and unconvincing. In her loneliness, her toughness, her perfect mix of maternal warmth and sexual adventurousness, she is at heart a literary conceit, an inhabitant of that realm of the male imagination where lust and sentimentality meet and mingle. But Ms. Myles inhabits the role with such crisp and understated wit that she manages to hold such doubts at bay. Common sense might suggest that a woman in Kate’s position should change her locks, call the police or move to another town when a guy like Hallam shows up, but somehow she never seems more sensible than when she does the opposite of what prudence might dictate.
The smaller performances are nearly as strong as Ms. Myles’s and Mr. Bell’s, even when the characters are a bit too broadly drawn…

This new interview with Sophia Myles comes from New York Magazine’s culture and entertainment blog Vulture. Out of all the recent interviews this seems like the most relaxed. Be sure to read Sophia’s answers to questions about Mister Foe, Moonlight and Outlander.
Jamie, as far as I’m concerned, is a national treasure. I would say he’s right up there at the top of my favorite co-stars, because in any scene between him and I, he’s so good and moving that all I had to do was just react to whatever he was doing. He’s made this seamless transition from child star to adult star without any of the rehab and all the nonsense.
(about the status of Outlander) It’s taking a while to come out. As always, there’s drama, I think, behind the scenes. I’m not entirely sure. No one tells me because I’m just the actress. It will come out, and it’s not true that it’s going straight to DVD….

Another new interview. This time around from Parade Magazine. Reading the title “Sophia Myles On Her First On-Screen Kiss” made me expect little but there are some nice quotes in there about enjoying the single life, growing up, living in LA and playing a Viking princess.
I think when I was younger I was kind of looking for somebody to come along to complete me. And I’ve realized now that I have to basically be complete — I have to complete myself. And then the right thing will come. I’m enjoying the single life. I’m enjoying taking this time for myself because I think it’s important.
My philosophy exactly! Read the full interview.
According to Videota the US DVD for Mister Foe will come out November 11, 2008.

Loads of screencaps of clips of Sophia Myles at public events and being interviewed. Links to view the clips are given in most cases - some have also been uploaded to the site’s media vault. Especially noteworthy the 18 (!) minute long uncut Moonlight interview as well as the previously unseen - at least by me - Tristan & Isolde interviews from 2006.

Brand new interview has arrived. Dark Horizons published their exclusive interview with Sophia Myles about “Mister Foe“. They call her performance in the film alluring - something I absolutely agree with! It’s an interesting interview and I like some of the slightly new elements she brings to her answers - in comparison to the UK “Hallam Foe” interviews from last year.
Well, I think, you know, as an actor - I mean, I think I make my living pretending to be someone else, so I think that element of kind of wearing a mask - which I think Kate does. I think she has a kind of professional mask that she puts on every day in the office, but it’s only through - it’s through Hallam’s eyes that the audience sees who she really is.
… But underneath it all - there’s a purity there that I think she’s attracted to. And I also think she’s not stupid. And she knows that he’s gonna - you know, he’s gonna age well. You know, he’s got potential. [LAUGHTER] I like also the fact that a relationship between an older girl and a younger guy was explored. Because I haven’t seen that for a while on film.
It really is a film that kind of deals with archetypal themes, you know? So it’s gonna have a profound effect on the human soul. I mean, it deals with the search for love. You know, it’s about a voyage of self-discovery and growth, and also the fear of death. It’s going to make people think. And it will make them feel. How it’s gonna make them feel? I’m really not one to judge. But again, you know, the sexuality in the movie, it’s not - like, all of the sex scenes, they’re not there to be sexy. They’re not sensual.
She also talks about working long hours for “Moonlight” - which is “kind of dead, completely dead” and not coming back - and how she felt about the show’s sudden end:
Everything happens for a reason. It was a massive shock that it finished, because we were all expecting to go into a second season and I would have welcomed that. But the powers that be have decided that it won’t go any further, so. I’m excited that I’m now free to do movies again.
Be sure to read the full interview in our press archive to read Sophia’s quotes about working with director David Mackenzie, dancing in front of Billy Elliot Jamie Bell, finding good projects and the massive Moonlight fanbase.

I’ve added pictures of Sophia Myles and Jamie Bell at the afore-mentioned “Mister Foe” Press Junket. It took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills this past Tuesday, August 26. I can’t wait to for more interviews to surface - which I’m sure they will next week when the film officially comes to theatres. Let’s keep our eyes open!

After Tuesday’s press junket for “Mister Foe” the first interview with Sophia Myles has surfaced online. It’s an audio snippet and is available on Hollywood Outbreak. Listen to Sophia talking about the stigma that’s attached to vicar’s daughters and the sex scenes in this movie. Thanks Stacey for the heads up!
On other news 10-year-old Shelby interviewed Alex O’Loughlin for her website and he mentioned Sophia Myles when answering a question about who made him laugh on the “Moonlight” set. Listen to the interview here. (Allow some time for the site to load as there is currently an overflow of visitors to that site). Thanks moviefnatic for the heads up!
I’d also like to bring something from a post’s comments section to everyone’s attention. It’s some new information regarding the “Outlander” DVD rumour. Official word from The Weinstein Company (US distributors) is that there is NO OFFICIAL DVD date yet for the movie. That was just an error on the parts of the two e-commerce sites that listed it. In fact The Weinstein Company will be reaching out to the two retailers (Movies Unlimited and Amazon) and will hopefully have that erroneous information removed. Thanks for the heads up echorock!

Just trying to catch up on a few things I have previously missed to add to the site these days. I’ve added 18 additional HQ stills from the “Moonlight” episodes 10, 13 and 14. I’m only missing the stills from episode 16 now. I know they’re available on various sites but I’d hate to just take them. Could anyone donate those? It’d be much appreciated. Screencaps of the last 2 episodes are on their way.
Back in April the newspaper “Wales on Sunday” published a very interesting “5 minute” interview with Sophia Myles. Read it here in our press archive.
• How environmentally friendly are you?
“As friendly as I can be. I know that my biggest contribution to any kind of bad things like carbon emissions is I fly a lot, but I always try to offset that. When you book tickets with British Airways you can pay the amount that your flight will cost to replant a tree. I thought if I’m going to buy a car in a foreign city I should buy something that’s friendly to the environment, and I try to keep myself as educated as much as I can.”
• If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
“I like me just the way I am.”
And one more update for today. Mark your diaries! To promote the US release of ‘Mister Foe‘ Sophia Myles is scheduled to appear (for the second time this year) on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. The date is Monday, September 8, 2008 at 12.35 AM ET/PT (to avoid confusion: this would be during the night Monday/Tuesday).
Please be sure to tune in - and since I myself won’t be able to watch or record this I’d be more than happy if someone could send in a clip for the site afterwards!
