Finally! ‘Outlander‘ is released in cinemas throughout Sophia’s homecountry this coming Friday, April 24!
SciFi.co.uk has a competition to win a VIP private ‘Outlander’ screening for you & your mates. To participate you have to be a UK resident, register at their website and give the correct answer to this question “What do you call a monster with one eye?” before the end of April 25. Good luck!
Also on SciFi.co.uk you can shorten the wait till Friday by watching their exclusive ‘Outlander‘ clip of the movie’s beginning.
I’ve come across some new reviews. Apparently Jonathan Ross spoke favourably about the movie in his show and The Mirror singled out Sophia Myles for praise in their short and lukewarm review: “but it moves at a fair old pace and features a great performance by Sophia Myles as a Viking princess.”
As always I’m extremely grateful for anything you UK fans might come across. Thanks for keeping your eyes open!
Oh, and Sophia’s ‘Doctor Who‘ episode “Girl in the Fireplace” re-airs tonight on BBC3 at 7pm.

Again, from the set of ‘Moonlight‘ but a bit more extensive than the recent ones. Sophia Myles talks of course about vampires and her character Beth but also about the comparisons between the ‘Doctor Who‘ episode ‘The Girl in the Fireplace’ and ‘Moonlight‘, about her upcoming movie ‘Outlander‘ as well as her beginnings as an actress.

The minute I walked onto a film set, I just completely fell in love, hook, line and sinker. I was madly in love with it. From then on, I knew that that was the only thing I wanted to do, so I got myself an agent and just kept plowing away.

Wow! Sophia Myles has joked about never getting an action doll of one of her characters despite starring in a number of Sci-Fi films only recently in her interview with MediaBlvd Magazine.
Now, Nicole informs me that on January 31, 2008 one of the new Micro-Universe Spacecraft Sets will be the S.S. Madame de Pompadour from the Doctor Who episode ‘Girl in the Fireplace’ – also starring Sophia Myles as Madame de Pompadour. And guess what? The miniature spacecraft comes with a detailed painted figure of Madame de Pompadour herself! Click here to preview & preorder. Many thanks Nicole!

I’ve never really kept up with the status of ‘Doctor Who’ outside of the UK. So thank you to Aaron for bringing me up to speed.
Apparently, the 2nd series has aired already (incl. episode 4 also starring Sophia Myles) and has been available on DVD since January 16th this year. Buy Doctor Who: The Complete Second Series on Amazon.Com. The extras seem to be the same as on the UK DVD. Especially interesting for us: In-Vision commentary for episode 4 by David Tennant and Sophia Myles (and a producer), Outtakes and David Tennant’s video diaries.
I’ve added some more ‘Art School Confidential’ Portraits from last year’s Sundance Film Festival and replaced the Empire Australia Outtakes (2002) with HQs. Thanks to Kathy.

A little bit of trivia to start this first update of 2007: in a recent Doctor Who Magazine poll Sophia Myles was voted #3 in the category ‘Best Supporting Actress’:
1 Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith)- 26.89%
2 Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler)- 18.56%
3 Sophia Myles (Reinette)- 18.45%
4 Pauline Collins (Queen Victoria)- 8.35%
5 Tracy-Ann Oberman (Yvonne Hartman)- 7.89%
Others- 19.86%
Despite divided opinions on the latest adaptation of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ the BBC programme also starring Sophia Myles proved to be a hit in terms of audience figures:
Thursday’s screening aired on BBC1 at 9pm and was seen by 5.1 million people, a 22% share of the overall audience, making it the day’s most-watched programme in the UK.
Here now the latest gallery additions, including the promised Radio Times and The Times magazine scans:

I’ve replaced the existing ‘Doctor Who’ screencaptures with high quality ones. As was the case with the ‘Tristan & Isolde’ captures to see them full-sized you have to click them twice. The reason for the smaller intermediate pictures is make picture-viewing agreeable to those who don’t have fast internet connections.

I got hold of the Doctor Who Confidential for episode 4. I’ve added the screencaptures.
Also Sophia Myles has been painted multiple times for her parts in various movies. I collected the pictures and added them to the gallery. There’s one more from the deleted scene in ‘From Hell’ but I can’t find my DVD at the moment. I’ll add that picture later…

I spent the whole day yesterday capping the ‘Tristan & Isolde’ DVD and uploading everything. Following is the summary of what I’ve uploaded to the gallery.
‘The Girl in the Fireplace’ aired on Saturday and Sophia’s performance impressed many who hadn’t heard of her before. That’s great! About the success of the episode itself, a quote from Gallifrey Online:
“Doctor Who” was again the #1 rated show on UK television on Saturday both by viewers as well as by audience share.
And Glamour Magazine UK have a video interview. Watch it, Sophia Myles is very funny and articulate!
