Since there’s no new episode of ‘Moonlight’ until next week and the series is not yet airing anywhere outside the States – except in Australia as of next week Dec 12th at 9:30PM on Channel 9 – it might be a good idea to watch this film in the meantime. Buy the DVD on Amazon US, UK, Deutschland

A general UK theatrical release date has yet to be confirmed. LaunchingFilms is however listing August 31. But maybe the presentation at the Berlin Film Festival will get the film an earlier release?!

‘Dracula’ aired on PBS yesterday. The reviews aren’t that good. They didn’t say much about the performances but disliked mostly the lack of subtlety. Reuters:

It’s all suitably chilling and terrifying, and to be fair, it does stay true to Stoker’s novel in much of the plotting. But this reimagining is far more literal and unsubtle than your daddy’s “Dracula,” pushing its monstrous visuals and bloodletting to the forefront in a fashion that’s not captivating so much as overpowering.

Despite divided opinions on the latest adaptation of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ the BBC programme also starring Sophia Myles proved to be a hit in terms of audience figures:

Thursday’s screening aired on BBC1 at 9pm and was seen by 5.1 million people, a 22% share of the overall audience, making it the day’s most-watched programme in the UK.

This is probably my last update this year – unless I somehow get the promised magazines & scans before. So I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Sophia Myles for being an inspiration to all of us. Her performances certainly enlighten the programmes we watch for our entertainment. Career-wise, it has been an amazing year for Sophia Myles. Congratulations!

2006 saw the release of ‘Tristan & Isolde’, ‘Art School Confidential’, ‘Marple: Sleeping Murder’, and ‘The Hades Factor’ on the big or silver screen as well as on DVD. Residents from the UK as well as from other parts of the world have been exposed to Sophia Myles’ magic. Additionally, her guest appearances in ‘Extras’ and ‘Doctor Who’ have proven that producers are not unfamiliar with her name and what it stands for: credible, natural, enchanting and passionate performances. Sophia Myles has been busy working on upcoming projects: ‘Hallam Foe (shot in Scotland March 27 – May 11, 2006), ‘Dracula’, which airs tonight (shot in England August 7 – 27, 2006) and ‘Outlander’ during the past few weeks in isolate Nova Scotia, Canada. This is certainly an exciting project as it will bring back Sophia Myles to the big screen in a rather commercial production.

Screencaptures of that are coming soon. Meanwhile the artwork for the British DVD is out (view). This announcement got my attention. According to the press release these people got the UK release date seems now to be January 8. And we may not get the additional ‘Deleted Scenes’ after all. I did some checking on all the major UK DVD online sellers and the dates they give are between January 2 – 15… All a bit confusing!

These days Sophia’s back in England. Shooting for ‘Outlander’ is on hold over the Holidays and will resume filming next week. Sophia accompanied David Tennant to his Virgin Radio Christmas pantomime ‘Cinderella’. Thank you Amo for pointing me to pictures of them arriving and leaving the building.
