Today ‘Outlander‘ is released on DVD in the US! Be sure to order if you haven’t yet to see Sophia Myles in action as Viking warrior princess Freya & the – to be expected – fabulous DVD extras! The DVD should also be availble for rent at Blockbuster.
According to the Outlander fansite it is as of yet unclear when the movie will be released on BluRay in the US. However, it’s stil scheduled to be released on DVD & BluRay May 26th in Canada. A free DVD can be won on a contest over at EyeWeekly.com

IGN got the exclusive on the press release about the ‘Outlander‘ DVD. It will be released on May 19th.
The Outlander DVD will retail for $19.97 and include the following bonus features:
• Deleted Scenes
• Commentary by Writer/Director Howard McCain, Writer Dirk Blackman, and Producer Chris Roberts and John Schimmel
• Visual Effects Tests
• Animatics
• Production Design Galleries
And The AD noticed that the Weinstein Company has officially moved ‘Outlander‘ out of the “Now Playing” listing and to the DVD listing on their website. No luck in getting to see it on the big screen in the US now if you’ve missed it so far, I guess.
Remember, before ‘Outlander‘ is released on DVD in the States, it will be released on French DVDs April 2, hit cinemas in Turkey April 10 and in the UK April 24.
The French DVD/Blue Ray will be a 2-disc edition and feature the following extras:
• Making Of
• 27 deleted scenes
• 14 scenes (animated version)
• Special Effects
I have no other information about release plans for Canada or Australia. Look out for news on the Outlander fansite as this will likely be the first place to have new info.

I am very sorry for the lack of updates recently but real life has certainly been keeping me very busy. In addition, it’s been rather quiet in the Sophia world. Still, there are a number of things I need to update on. First, a number of Sophia’s projects have been released on DVD since my last update: Mister Foe in the US, and Moonlight in the UK and in Germany. I’m sure these are excellent gift ideas for yourself or your loved ones!
I’ve added 4 international Amazon Stores to this site. I’ve tried to find all the Sophia Myles related products and added them to the shops. This should enable you to find the various DVDs, soundtracks, audiobooks etc much quicker – all with the same information and for the exact same price as if you were to browse the main Amazon site.
In addition, when you decide to buy your Sophia Myles products via these stores you help me earn small referral fees without actually having to pay extra. I in turn will be able to spend these on new DVDs etc to continue providing you with new screencaptures. Thank you for your support! Read more at Site Policy.

The US release date for the “Moonlight” DVD has formally (and finally) been announced by Warner Home Video this morning according to TV Shows on DVD. It will hit stores January 20, 2009. Pre-Order at Amazon.com
In my humble opinion, the absence of news concerning special features makes this announcement not especially “news you can really sink your teeth into” as we were previously led to expect. Anyway, an end of the wait for the DVDs is in sight now!
The 4-disc set will have all 16 episodes starring Alex O’Loughlin, which will be presented in widescreen video and an English – Dolby Surround 5.1 audio soundtrack. Subtitles will be in English, Spanish, French and Thai. No bonus material has been indicated, but if we find out anything then we’ll let you know. Cost will be $39.98 SRP, which means you should be able to pick it up for under $30 street price after retailers plug in their discounts.

There is now also a German release date for the 16 episodes of “Moonlight“: November 7. Apparently, German Sophia fans will be the first to have the series on silver discs as the UK release is still planned for November 17. I’ve unfortunately not been able to find any information about special features for either release. As far as the US release is concerned an announcement of a release date is expected for this month (read more).
So why don’t you pre-order your own copy of the 4-DVD box? Pre-Order German DVD / Pre-Order UK DVD

Yesterday, a Live Chat with Warner Home Video took place on The Home Theater Forum. Naturally, there were questions about their plans to release “Moonlight” on DVD:
for fans of MOONLIGHT…stay tuned for GOOD news you can really sink your teeth into in the next month…
There was never a release set for September, each territory sets release dates that make the most sense for them. They are on a sightly more accelerated schedule.
expected DVD extras: We can’t comment at this time but look for our announce in a few weeks.

Thanks Sue for the heads up. DVD Empire have released the cover art for the US “Mister Foe” DVD, scheduled to be released November 11, 2008. What do you think of it? I personally like this the best out of all the “Hallam (Mister) Foe” artwork that’s been released.
If you want to make sure you receive your copy of the DVD as soon as it is released why don’t you pre-Order @ Amazon? Order now and if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you’ll receive the lowest price.

Another new interview. This time around from Parade Magazine. Reading the title “Sophia Myles On Her First On-Screen Kiss” made me expect little but there are some nice quotes in there about enjoying the single life, growing up, living in LA and playing a Viking princess.
I think when I was younger I was kind of looking for somebody to come along to complete me. And I’ve realized now that I have to basically be complete — I have to complete myself. And then the right thing will come. I’m enjoying the single life. I’m enjoying taking this time for myself because I think it’s important.
My philosophy exactly! Read the full interview.
According to Videota the US DVD for Mister Foe will come out November 11, 2008.
