From Psychic News / by Billy Roberts
Actress Sophia Myles has appeared in numerous film and television productions in the UK and America. Keenly interested in spiritual topics, she talks to Billy Roberts about her personal beliefs.
Sophia, let’s begin by talking a little bit about your background. For example, how did you first get into acting, and tell us some of the films you have appeared in.
I was born and raised in London. When I was fifteen I was spotted in a school play by Oscar winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes. He gave me my first job playing Lady Jane Grey in the BBC adaption of Mark Twain’s The Prince and the Pauper. I fell in love with being on film sets and haven’t looked back since. I’ve been working in film and television for twenty years now.
Highlights of my career include performances as Lady Penelope in Thunderbirds, Reinette Poisson in the hugely acclaimed episode of Dr Who: The Girl in the Fireplace and playing Beth Turner on the cult US TV series Moonlight. Most recently I played Darcy in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Lady Katherine in Our Zoo for the BBC.
When I first met you I had the sense that there was something a little different about you, spiritually speaking. Do you believe in angels? Do you think you are being guided in your life, and if so, how?
I most definitely believe in angels. I had a spiritual awakening when I was 27 years old. During a guided meditation I had the vision of a being of light. The teacher told us to ask the name of anyone who appeared during the meditation. The being told me his name was Michael. When I described the encounter to our teacher she immediately responded “That’s Archangel Michael”. I have been aware of him ever since and he makes his presence known by flashes of beautiful indigo light and often drops white feathers in my path to remind me that I am being guided. I know that some people reading this may think I sound like a nutter, but I don’t care, because it’s true!
Your father was a Church of England vicar. Did his position in the church influence your belief in any way?
I have my own relationship with a Universal Creator. Organised religion has never resonated with my soul in quite the same way as my own private spiritual journey. I have nothing but the greatest respect for my father and his work. He is a deeply spiritual man. I love the fact that he has allowed me and my brother Oliver the freedom to explore our own beliefs.
Would you say that you are psychic? Tell us about any experiences you’ve had.
I have a feeling that if I put the work in, it’s a skill I could cultivate. I often know what people are going to say just before they say it and I always know who is calling me on the telephone!
Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what do you think it is like?
The soul is eternal. I believe I am a spiritual being having a human experience on Earth. When my physical body dies, the energy of who I am does not. I have no idea what the next phase will be, but there will definitely be one!
Do you believe in reincarnation? If so, what in your opinion is its purpose, and do you ever feel you have been here before?
I think reincarnation happens if one’s soul purpose is not completed on Earth in this life. You have to come back again in a different body and fill in the gaps you missed this time around! I’m not sure if I have been here before. If I have it was a very, very long time ago.
You have recently had your first baby, Luke. Has he changed you in any way – particularly spiritually
My little boy Luke is the most divine blessing. I am utterly devoted to him. He has filled my heart with love and brought light to my life. The miracle of his creation has made my spiritual connection stronger than ever. He grounds me on this planet and for the first time in my life I truly understand why I am here. To love and to be loved.
Do you ever have premonitions about things that later actually happen?
Not premonitions exactly, but my intuition generally gives me some form of advance warning if things are going to shift.
You recently appeared on television as Lady Katherine Longmore in Our Zoo. Are you an animal lover? And do you think animals have souls and therefore live after death?
I adore animals. I have often said that I like dogs more than humans! I feel at peace around animals and they make me very happy. Animals absolutely have souls. Like us, they live on after their physical bodies die.
Finally, Sophia, would you like to add anything about your life, your dreams and expectations?
My goodness, that’s a huge question! I love my life and I have fascinating dreams but I have no expectations. I have learned that the best way to approach everything is simply to go with the flow and live in the present moment.
