If you were still mistrusting The Daily Mail, here’s the official ‘Spooks‘ Press Release confirming Sophia’s casting as well as revealing a tiny little bit of what we can expect. They sure like to keep a lid on things and keep us in the dark!
The new series of this thrilling drama will introduce a host of new characters who shake things up and give cause for concern as Section D are left wondering who can really be trusted. Friendships will be tested and the depth of deceit will lead to an unprecedented game of cat and mouse for the Spooks.
Sophia Myles (Underworld, Doctor Who), Max Brown (Mistresses, The Tudors), Iain Glen (The Blue Room, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider), Simon Russell Beale (Much Ado About Nothing, Uncle Vanya) and Laila Rouass (Primeval, Footballers’ Wives) join Spooks as series regulars but the characters they play and the impact they have on the team dynamic is being kept tightly under wraps.
Sarah Brandist, BBC Executive Producer, said: “We are very proud to introduce an extraordinary number of exciting new characters to this new series. The new additions will really ruffle some feathers but, as intrigue and betrayal is at the heart of the new storylines, we don’t want to give too much away at this stage. All will be revealed when the series transmits on BBC One later this year!”
Filming is expected to last till mid-July. To read the full release follow this link:

The plot is thickening. All messageboard members know about the report from someone who had spotted Sophia Myles on set of her top secret project last Sunday and now The Daily Mail seems to confirm the information: Sophia Myles is joining UK’s BAFTA-winning TV Show Spooks, which comes back for it’s 9th season this autumn on BBC1. The show is described as TV thriller and is also airing in the US on PBS, although under the name MI-5.
Some information about her role from the article: She’s the new all-action counter terrorism operative and she’ll be in all 8 episodes of the new season. (Scan sent in by Lorna – thank you!) She’s re-united with Richard Armitage, with whom she shared the stage back in 1999 for a few weeks. This is terribly exciting news and I can’t wait to hear more!
• Sophia’s ready to be Spooked, The Daily Mail, March 19
It’s 6.30am and I have just woken up. It’s my birthday today. I am 30. WOO HOO!
I have 2 hours before a car picks me and takes me to a secret location in London to film scenes on a tube train.
It’s fun being back in front of the camera…. (more will be revealed).
I wanted to write today to say thank you to all the ASM members for their Birthday wishes.
It’s heartwarming to read your posts and I hope you are all well and happy.
Also to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone involved in making my beautiful keepsake book for Moonlight. Special thanks again to Lee Ann Gradwell.
I spoke to Alex O’loughlin last night and he is eagerly awaiting
the arrival of his keepsake book.
He informs me that he is shooting his new show. He’s tanned, he’s toned and he’s getting his tits out in Hawaii! We shall never forget the magic of Moonlight. (See photo)
I need to make coffee at this point so I bid you all farewell.
Spring is upon us so enjoy!
I’ll be in touch…
Thank you so much Sophia for getting in touch and may you have a wonderful day! Lots of love, laughter and sunshine to you!
Exciting news: Sophia Myles has a new job! Congratulations! Of course we all can’t wait to see Sophia Myles back in action and I’m sure we would all love to know what it is. But her job is top secret at the moment and will be announced as soon as possible.
In the meantime, look at some pictures of Sophia Myles leaving the Royal Haymarket Theatre in London with her good friend Anna Friel after seeing her on stage in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s‘ on November 30, 2009.
